The 68th<\/sup> Berlin International Film Festival will open at the Berlinale Palast on February 15, 2018 with the world premiere of Wes Anderson\u2019s animated film Isle of Dogs<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Anderson has previously presented three films in the Berlinale Competition<\/em>: The Royal Tenenbaums <\/em>(2002), The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou<\/em> (2005), and The Grand Budapest Hotel<\/em>(2014) which opened the 64th<\/sup> Berlin International Film Festival and won the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m most delighted that Wes Anderson will kick off the Berlinale Competition<\/em> again.<\/em> Isle of Dogs<\/em>will be the first animated film to open the Festival \u2013 a film that will capture audiences\u2019 hearts with its Wes Anderson charm,\u201d says Festival Director Dieter Kosslick<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Isle of Dogs<\/em> tells the story of Atari Kobayashi, 12-year-old ward to corrupt Mayor Kobayashi. When, by Executive Decree, all the canine pets of Megasaki City are exiled to a vast garbage-dump, Atari sets off alone in a miniature Junior-Turbo Prop and flies to Trash Island in search of his bodyguard-dog, Spots. There, with the assistance of a pack of newly-found mongrel friends, he begins an epic journey that will decide the fate and future of the entire Prefecture.<\/p>\n

The voice cast includes Bryan Cranston, Koyu Rankin, Edward Norton, Liev Schreiber, Bill Murray, Bob Balaban, Jeff Goldblum, Scarlett Johansson, Kunichi Nomura, Tilda Swinton, Ken Watanabe, Akira Ito, Greta Gerwig, Akira Takayama, Frances McDormand, F. Murray Abraham, Courtney B. Vance, Yojiro Noda, Fisher Stevens, Mari Natsuki, Nijiro Murakami, Yoko Ono, Harvey Keitel and Frank Wood.<\/p>\n

Following their collaboration on The Grand Budapest Hotel<\/em>, Anderson, Scott Rudin, Steven Rales and Jeremy Dawson return as producers on Isle of Dogs<\/em>, which was produced by Indian Paintbrush and filmed at 3 Mills Studios in London. Christoph Fisser, Henning Molfenter and Charlie Woebcken of Studio Babelsberg serve as executive producers. Fox Searchlight Pictures will distribute the film worldwide in partnership with Indian Paintbrush.<\/p>\n

Isle of Dogs<\/em> will release in US cinemas on March 23, 2018. Internationally, the film will open in cinemas from April 2018.<\/p>\n

Every year, the Culinary Cinema<\/i> shows about around twelve current features, documentaries and short films that deal with the pleasant or dark aspects of food. The films are selected according to their thematic and cinematic qualities. Films screened in previous years included: Monsieur Mayonnaise<\/i> with Philippe Mora by Trevor Graham, Soul<\/i> by \u00c1ngel Parra and Jos\u00e9 Antonio Blanco, Schumann\u2019s Bar Talks<\/i>with Charles Schumann by Marieke Schroeder, NOMA \u2013 My Perfect Storm<\/i> by Pierre Deschamps, Cooked<\/i> by Alex Gibney and Ryan Miller based on the bestseller by Michael Pollan, the Chef\u2019s Table<\/i>episodes on Tim Raue<\/i> by Abigail Fuller and on Massimo Bottura<\/i> and Jeong Kwan<\/i> by David Gelb, Sergio Herman<\/i>, FUCKING PERFECT<\/i> by Willemiek Kluijfhout, El Somni<\/i> by Frank Aleu with the Roca brothers and Food, Inc.<\/i> by Robert Kenner. The audience was delighted by feature films like C\u00e9sar Ch\u00e1vez<\/i> by Diego Luna, Comme un chef<\/i> (The Chef<\/i>) by Daniel Cohen with Jean Reno, Tambi\u00e9n la lluvia<\/i> (Even the Rain<\/i>) by Ic\u00edar Bolla\u00edn with Gael Garc\u00eda Bernal and Io Sono L\u2019Amore<\/i> (I Am Love<\/i>) by Luca Guadagnino with Tilda Swinton.<\/p>\n
