Terra Madre Day\u00a0is Slow Food\u2019s annual day to promote the diversity of food traditions and production, and show how our network is using its creativity and knowledge to express our love for the planet and defend the future for the next generations.\u00a0Since 2009, each year on Slow Food\u2019s anniversary, December 10, food communities and Slow Food convivia all around the world\u00a0celebrate local eating, agricultural biodiversity\u00a0andsustainable food production. Celebrations take shape with hundreds of events ranging from collective meals, fundraisers, community festivals, protests, workshops for children, excursions to producers, and much more. It\u2019s our way of demonstrating diversity and Slow Food\u2019s philosophy of good, clean and fair food to communities, the media and decision makers.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s Terra Madre Day calls special attention to Slow Food\u2019s first international fundraising campaign\u00a0Love the Earth, Defend the Future\u00a0recently launched to help collect the much-needed funds for Slow Food to continue its activities independently as a non-profit organization and keep its role as the protector of biodiversity.<\/p>\n
For this reason, Terra Madre Day 2016 will be an excellent opportunity to discuss the relevance of biodiversity to build a better future, and spread the word through our extensive network of global supporters!<\/p>\n
